Blog Post #3- The Character I am Most Drawn To

In The Stranger Case of Dr.Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, there are many intresting characters, but the character I am most drawn too is Dr. Jekyll. I think I am drawn to him the most because you never know what he is going to do next, and there is just something a little bit strange abou the way he  acts and presents himself. I feel Dr. Jekyll can be a little bit creepy at times. An example of this is when Mr. Guest was comparing the two notes and he realized that both notes were written in the same handwritting, In my opinion so far the theme of loyality in friendship is re-occuring. For instance, after Dr. Lanyon died Mr. Utterson found a note saying not to be read until Dr. Jekyll has died or has gone missing, Mr. Utterson fought his urges to open the letter because he wanted to be loyal to his decised friend.

  1. I agree and I also believe that the only reason Mr.Utterson is not really interested in finding out about what is happening to Dr.Jekyll is becasue he wants to be respectful and loyal to his friends rather than geting into their "private matters".

  2. So how do you think Dr. Jekyll's character helps Stevenson get this message of loyalty in friendship across? Dr. Jekyll is quite possibly the worst friend a person could be unlucky to get! This unpredicatbility and neediness is what tests Utterson's friendship forcing him to either remain loyal or abandon his friend. And of course, he chooses loyalty. But did his loyalty pay off?

  3. I do agree that Dr. Jekyll is mysterious, however the person who is more mysterious is the second side of Dr. Jekyll, Mr. Hyde. He has this strange feeling behind him not knowing what kind of move he will make next. In addition, their is a lot of loyalty, in these couple of chapter, because Mr. Utterson keeps having to believe that his friendship is pure and not to doubt it.
